SALT & STRAW ICE CREAM

When I joined the fast-growing artisanal ice cream company brand Salt & Straw, there was tremendous opportunity to harness their social communities by leveling up the type of content the brand was known for. I built and led a cross-platform social media strategy that tapped into the ice cream fandom surrounding the brand, leveraging influencers and celebrities and creating social-first content.

During my time at the company, I increased social followers by 160% and the Instagram engagement rate to 7%, and led social activations at Coachella, the East Coast expansion to Miami, and celebrity partnerships with Chrissy Teigen and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

Sweet engagement stories. Thanksgiving wines to pair with your pint. Horoscope charts. Memes that make you LOL. By creating social-first content that spoke to customers, I attracted and nurtured customers while honing the Salt & Straw brand story and driving in-store and eComm sales.

VIDEO

With so many stories to tell and customers hungry to see more of the ice cream-making process, I created a video strategy that spoke to our audiences through several formats, with series like “Scoop School” to see how flavors come to life in the R&D kitchen and “New Flavor Friday” to reveal new menus. I directed video shoots of foraging for seaweed on the Northern California coast and featuring micro-farmers in the Salinas Valley.

Customers got the chance to see the wonder behind making a Salt & Straw flavor as they stepped into the R&D kitchen with the head ice cream maker to see how a flavor got made.

NEW FLAVOR FRIDAY

To celebrate the company’s highly anticipated monthly flavor launch, I created the franchise, New Flavor Friday, in which the head ice cream maker walks customers through a live tasting.
